Milford Weddings can be involved in as much or as little of the planning and management of your day as you like. It’s all up to you! We work closely with our couples to achieve the best wedding plan and event design that matches who you are. We want your day to reflect who you are as a couple, and we will work tirelessly to achieve just that. We will worry about all the event management and logistics, and you can focus on you.

Milford Weddings is gay owned and operated, and are the only professional event management agency in Australia specialising in wedding planning and destination management services for same sex couples in Australia and New Zealand as well as our community overseas wishing to hold their special day in the land of Oz.

Why Choose Milford Weddings

Mister Milford, founded in 2014, is a gay-owned and operated boutique event agency located in Sydney. Our agency primarily provides event management, design, and styling services to the corporate sector. Over time, we were approached to plan weddings for some of our clients and their staff after attending a Mister Milford event. Weddings on Request was included as a service offering in the early years. 

In 2018, when planning our own wedding, we were taken by surprise by experiencing our own fair share of discrimination throughout the process and throughout the wedding day. We were ghosted by a long-term supplier of ours who stopped responding to emails and calls when they received our artwork to print our “Save the Date” invitations for our wedding day. Dumfounded, it took weeks before the realisation finally settled in, they were no longer responding because the invitation was for a same-sex wedding.  

Our own wedding planner sent out a questionnaire to us following our initial meeting together with the first questions being Brides Full Name and Grooms Full Name. Such a simple edit to a form that would make an enormous difference to any queer couple, yet we discovered this across the board within the wedding industry, so entrenched in heteronormative traditional marriage, adapting to be inclusive meant slapping on a Love is Love rainbow on a website seemed enough to bring in the business. That’s a no from us. 

Since then, our mission has been to provide a specific service to the LGBTQI+ community, tailoring our offering to specialise in same-sex weddings and protect other couples from having to experience any discrimination or negativity in the way that we had. In addition, we wanted our community to have a planner they can turn to for the creation of their dream queer ceremony and celebration, make it bigger make it glitter make it GAY! After years of planning, and carefully curating a gay wedding vendor list of GLBTQI+ and Ally organisations including the very best caterers, venues, marriage celebrants, entertainers, florists, cake makers, transport providers and everything in between, Milford Weddings will officially launch in Spring 2024.

Milford Weddings Essentials Package

Already secured a venue and some suppliers but need our help with the finer details? No problem! Our Essentials package gives you all the Milford Wedding love and on-the-day management plus access to our valuable registry of contacts for everything you could possibly need.

From $7000.00+GST

Inclusions:

  • Initial wedding appraisal, including a questionnaire for you and your partner to let us know where you are up to with your planning and where we may be able to assist. 

  • Design a unique and personal concept proposal for your wedding day including look & feel, colour scheme, furniture & décor and mood board.

  • Ongoing consultation via phone/email. 

  • Up to three x one-hour face-to-face/video meetings to discuss the progress of the wedding plans. 

  • Personalised Planner - Overview of the planning process, budget and timeline with all key dates.

  • Access to Milford Weddings curated 'Ally List' of wedding suppliers and vendors.

  • Recommend, finalise and coordinate up to 4 key vendors/ suppliers E.g. Printer, photographer, celebrant, florist, vehicles, transportation, wedding cake, invitation design, jeweller, music arrangement, and entertainment. 

  • Development of a wedding run sheet, supplier contact list and distribution to all participants and suppliers. 

  • Advice on how to put together the formalities for the day. 

  • Assistance with floor plans.

  • Advice on wedding reception menu, wedding cake design

  • Table mock-up for your feedback and approval. 

  • Prepare wedding day emergency kit

  • Oversee the styling and event set-up for the ceremony and reception venues on the day.

  • Milford Wedding planner onsite for the big day (approx. 10h) 1 x Coordinator.

 

Milford Weddings Ultimate Package

We’ve got this! Our service begins right away, and we secure your date up to 24 months out. Creative wedding ideas, design advice and inspiration are all part of our Milford Weddings ultimate planning package. 

From $12,000.00+GST

Inclusions:

  • All services provided in the “Essentials” Wedding Package plus;

  • An additional three x one-hour face-to-face/video meetings to discuss the progress of the wedding plans. 6 in total. 

  • Wedding concept creation and event design. 

  • Recommendation of venues (3)  that best reflect your style, theme and budget. If these have already been sourced, we’ll take over the management and coordination. 

  • Recommendation of ceremony location (2), based on venue choice.

  • Arrange walkthroughs of selected venue/ceremony locations for you and your partner.

  • After you decide on your venues, we will gather quotes and negotiate prices that reflect your needs for the various elements of your wedding. 

  • Recommend, finalise and secure all vendors/ suppliers as required E.g. Printer, photographer, celebrant, florist, vehicles, transportation, wedding cake, invitation design, jeweller, music arrangement, entertainment. 

  • Milford Weddings will be the main point of contact for all your suppliers and venue(s) to help avoid stress and confusion including the coordination and management of contracts, bookings, deposits and payments for venues and suppliers on your behalf.

  • Budget management, updates, payment schedule and reminders. 

  • Event Production, styling and coordination for the ceremony and reception venues on the day.

  • Milford Wedding planner onsite for the big day (approx. 10h) 1 x Coordinator.

Want to get married in Australia? Milford Weddings is Australia’s only gay wedding planner specialising in planning weddings for the GLBTQI+ community across Australia and International couples planning a destination wedding anywhere in Australia.

Assisting you every step of the way, from sourcing your venue and licensed wedding celebrant to travel & accommodation planning for you and your guests. 

There are no visa restrictions regarding getting married. So, it is legal for a same-sex couple on a Tourist Visa to get married in Australia.
